Fruit
trees for sale. We specialize in the growing and supply
of quality fruit trees. We work on orders of any size:
from one tree up. By this we mean that customers who only need
one tree are most welcome. Whether you need one, several or
many trees, we will always do our best to supply the tree or trees best
suited to your needs.
By the term "quality
fruit trees", we mean trees with side branches. In other words,
our trees are not "mail-order matchsticks", but well-developed
plants that will reach cropping sooner than you think - in many cases,
the year after planting. Our trees are accompanied by free advice offered
by a grower with long-term experience in the field. This means that
we can help you select the right tree for the requirements - whether
for a pot on a patio, in the corner of a garden, as part of a multi-fruit
garden, or in a small orchard - and if necessary, do the whole job for
you, including delivery, planting and tree care. For more information
on fruit tree sales, take a look at our tree
varieties page, or send us an e-mail.
Orchard
pack - order now for autumn!
Fruit trees do best when
they are planted in the period from December to April,
and so now is the time to start planning your new mini-orchard,
and preparing the place in the garden where you would like to
plant your fruit trees next autumn. Why is it best to plant trees
from December to April? Because in those months, the trees are
fully dormant and so can withstand the stress of transport and
planting, but above all, their roots have plenty of time to regrow
before the plant comes into leaf.
Our Orchard Pack
simplifies the planning process, because it solves one important
factor - pollination - right from the start. The Orchard Pack
contains 2 apple trees, 1 pear, 1 plum, and 1 cherry tree. It
is our standard pack of
5 trees. If you have any special requirements, these can
be accommodated - for example, you can ask for an apricot, a peach,
and 3 apple trees, as long as the total number of trees is 5.
Of course, you can order single trees, or 2, 3 or 4, but in this
case, delivery and packaging costs will cost proportionately more
than for the 5-tree Orchard Pack, for which packaging
and delivery is included in the total price.
The Orchard Pack includes an information sheet with details on
what has to be done to ensure that the trees are successful. When
you receive the trees they will be around 4-5 feet tall, and mostly
2-3 years old.
Trees will be lifted during November, and deliveries will begin
from early December. The
sooner you order, the earlier you will receive the trees.
We advise you to contact us as soon as possible with your order
and any special requirements regarding trees and varieties. We
are always available to provide you with free advice on which
tree combinations work best in our Orchard Pack, and to give you
the all-in, no-extras price.
A final word of advice, which is so important that we prefer to
mention it already here. Do not plant any trees without rabbit
guards to protect the trunks from damage caused by hares and rabbits,
but also by cats and dogs.
We look forward to hearing from you! Just write to us by e-mail.

Design
and planning of mini orchards and multi-fruit gardens
A number of fruit trees in a garden can become a very attractive feature
as well as producing fruit. We can also provide advice on the use of
ornamental trees in combination with the orchard area. There are several
questions that should be considered in a small orchard. Pollination,
which is essential for regular cropping. The size of the mature tree:
varieties and rootstocks have to be chosen so that the trees do not
block the light from areas of your garden. Shelter: particularly liked
by some trees. Rootstock: as well as affecting size, the rootstock determines
the size of the fruit and the regularity of cropping.
Fruit
trees and the English landscape. Throughout the ages
fruit trees have always formed part of the English rural and urban landscape.
We are tree suppliers with a difference: we have specialist knowledge
of the types and combinations of the many fruit trees available, so
that we can help make your own environment dreams and ideals come true.
So many idyllic landscapes are a combination of grassy areas, meadows,
animals and trees. What often is forgotten, or not given sufficient
thought, is the fact that even though the landscaped, extensive country
orchard seems, to the unpractised eye, to be “at one” with nature, in
actual fact some protective steps have to be taken, bearing in mind
the natural urges of fox, hare, rabbit, mice, squirrels, and sometimes
deer. This means fool proof fencing.
Another typical scene of rural England is the ornamental or fruiting
tree enclosure, where crab apples and other fruit trees provide food,
shade and shelter to all different kinds of poultry. In ecological terms
this is a fascinating combination, because poultry – in particular,
guinea fowl – help keep pests at bay by searching for grubs. Again,
the fencing of such areas has to be fox, deer, rabbit and hare proof.
(See our links page for a useful address
for poultry in an orchard). When nut trees are involved, squirrels can
be a real problem.
If you are looking for a virtually maintenance-free area, then the great
variety of the beautiful ornamental crab apple can be given serious
consideration. We stock many varieties of all sizes, shape and colours.
These can be planted in combination with medlars, quinces, walnuts and
sweet chestnut trees.
All this goes to show that a fruit tree is not an independent organism:
it is an integral part of its habitat. Each type of fruit tree has its
favourite companion, and it benefits from this “good company” by growing
and cropping better, and remaining naturally healthier. Trees do a lot
better, if seen as part of a whole, be it a garden, orchard, or secluded
area for relaxation or meditation.
We have considerable experience of all these different situations, and
we can help you with this as part of our tree supply package. In relation
to your site and soil type, we can advise you about varieties and
planting distances. We can advise you and supply you with all that is
needed in your particular circumstances. As part of our after sales
service, we continue to supply “know-how” if and when needed to all
our tree purchasers.
Where
do we go from here? Just send us an e-mail
outlining your area of interest, with as many details as you can, related
to the site, the soil, and the trees that are needed, and we will give
it our earliest and personal attention. Please do not forget to clearly
state your full address and phone number.
