Orchard Pack - Fruit Trees for Sale

Orchard Packs

Standard Orchard Pack – five trees, cropping from the year after planting!

Our Standard Orchard pack contains five trees, 2 apple trees, 1 pear, 1 plum, and 1 greengage or cherry tree, selected to ensure efficient pollination. These quality trees, about 4-5 feet high, will usually begin cropping the year after planting. These are not thin sticks, but usually sturdy, 2 to 3-year old trees, generally with several side branches. Price just £85 plus delivery.

In the nursery, these trees reach a height of 6 to 8 feet, depending on the variety of the fruit tree. In order to ensure good regrowth, after transplanting we like to cut the trees back to 5 feet. In our experience, this will give best results in the first year of re-establishment on the new site. However, if this is not wanted, we can send you the trees unpruned.

You can choose any variety as published on our website, under the heading Tree varieties. We will let you know if pollination is satisfactory with the varieties that you have chosen. If you would prefer us to make a choice of varieties for the orchard pack, just let us know.

The easiest way to set up your own mini orchard is to purchase an orchard pack, or several packs, with different varieties. Just follow the planting recommendations. You will find details in the plastic envelope attached to the orchard pack. You can plant bare root trees from December to March. From April to December it is best to use potted-up trees. These trees need to be well watered during the first year, on a weekly basis..

New! Multi-fruit orchard service

Now is the time to plan your multi-fruit orchard!
Trees are best planted from December to March, and so now is the time for preparations!

Our standard five-tree orchard pack has proved to be very popular with customers, but we have discovered that some people like the idea of planting a more extended area of garden with fruit trees. Our multi-fruit orchard service is ideal for those who have room for over 15 trees.

It is important to remember that trees do best when they are planted from December to March, when they are dormant. However, as a multi-fruit orchard needs some preparation – and we have to grow the trees! – it is a good idea to start planning straight away.

Our service includes all design aspects, including the choice of varieties suited to your area, pollination, planting distance, a convenient spread of harvesting dates, and the natural storage characteristics of specific varieties. We will provide instructions regarding site and soil preparations, which must be carried out in advance, preferably in summer or early autumn. The importance of soil preparation should not be underestimated: after all, the soil is a tree’s home! If the soil is prepared well, then the trees will do well.

So, if you are interested in planting a multi-fruit orchard, please contact us, telling us the size of the actual plantable area. It would be helpful if you could send us a few digital photos of the site and its surrounding hedges, walls etc. by e-mail. Once we have received this information, we can provide a quote which will include the cost of design and lay-out of the orchard, the cost of the trees, and delivery of trees to the site. Please include your phone number so that we can discuss important features of the orchard before actually preparing the design.

And after planting, you will discover the joy and fascination of an orchard as it develops. It will gradually attract new fauna, including predators that will provide natural pest control. And a well-planned orchard will give you the pleasure of beautiful blossom and home-grown fruit for at least the next thirty years, so it pays to get the details right! As always, at Real English Fruit, help and advice is just an e-mail away.

Special Orchard Pack

We take pride in our service of offering orchard packs tailor-made to requirements. After all, everyone has a different garden, and their own favourite fruits! If you have specific requirements for which the Standard Orchard Pack is not suitable – for example, more trees, or less than five, specific varieties, unusual characteristics of the soil or habitat – we can design a Special Orchard Pack specifically for your requirements. If you are looking for a certain variety, we can provide free advice on the optimum tree combinations to ensure successful pollination and cropping. As a start, please refer to our Varieties page.

Just contact us outlining your requirements and we will provide suggestions and price estimates.
